NATURAL MEN’S HEALTH: SHINGLES - SUPPLEMENTS

The following supplements can be taken both during an attack and as a preventative measure.

St John's wort (hypericum): take one tablet, three times a day. This is an anti-viral herb that assists in building up the immune system when you are run-down.

Vitamin C with bioflavonoids: take 1000 mg of each, three times a day.

Vitamin E: take 400IU, once a day. You can also use the oil from a capsule to apply to the dry shingles area after the attack has eased.

B12 and folic acid: take one tablet (400 mg each), three times a day. They are important for cellular repair and will also help with pain management.

For the elderly, I suggest a combination tablet of echinacea and St John's wort, one a day, to keep your immune system in good health.

Zinc is an important mineral for boosting immunity. Your naturopath can do a test to check your levels.

Many of my patients have used an infusion of a combination of five Japanese mushrooms (hakkumokuji, tochukaso, reiishi, shiitake and chorei) instead of the other herbs suggested above. Take 20 drops, three times a day. Even though they are expensive, this combination is brilliant as an anti-viral and can be used once a day long term as a preventative.

Yes! I have received the order and I am extremely pleased with the service and the pills. I had previously been paying a very high price through prescriptions from my local GP. I am now able to order online without hassle and delivery has been within the stated period that you give. Many thanks!
